Job Description
Title Postdoctoral Fellow in Medicine - Clinical Pharmacology
Specific Title
Appointment Type Postdoctoral Fellow
Department IUSM - Medicine - Clinical Pharmacology
Campus IU School of Medicine Indianapolis
Position Summary
The Disease and Therapeutic Response Modeling and Simulation Program within the Division of Clinical Pharmacology in the Department of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine seeks applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in pharmacometrics. Projects span across the translational research paradigm, from preclinical drug discovery to precision therapeutics, in a variety of therapeutic areas, including oncology, Alzheimer’s disease, obstetrics, and pediatrics.
Our training program is highly individualized. Universally, training entails the application of non-linear mixed effects modeling, physiologically based pharmacokinetics, quantitative systems pharmacology, Bayesian modeling, and Monte-Carlo Simulation techniques in a setting of applied or methodological/theoretical research. The group offers a stimulating modeling environment by encouraging active interactions and collaborations with scientists trained in biostatistics, computational biology, and bioinformatics. Trainees work closely with clinical pharmacology fellows and are expected to participate in the Division’s didactics, seminars, and journal clubs.
Projects focus on the development of pharmacometric models used to describe and predict pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics as well as patho-physiological processes relating to disease state and/or disease progression. Applied research projects are not limited to only model development and hypothesis testing, but also include the potential use of models to guide experimental/clinical trial design and for hypothesis generation (e.g. mechanistic models and/or systems pharmacology).
